“If you talk to a man in a language he understands it goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.”
French Curriculum Intent
Studying languages at Wixams Academy, gives students opportunities to become global citizens and learn about more than fifty countries around the world. At Wixams Academy, we aim for students to see language used in everyday and real situations, making lessons engaging and preparing learners for opportunities to travel in later life. Students will be encouraged to communicate in the foreign language in lessons. The grammar and subject topics studied will allow students to converse independently by the end of Key Stage 3, giving them the skills to adapt sentence types and talk about a range of different topics. During Key Stage 4, this knowledge will be developed further and students will become confident linguists, able to understand challenging and authentic texts and produce language of a high standard.
